The official meaning of SPKLU
Indonesia's Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation No. 1 of 2023 distinguishes public charging at an SPKLU from charging through a private electrical installation. It also describes charging infrastructure as a system that includes power supply, control, communication, protection, and safety.
SPKLU is therefore not simply a wall socket or a charger cabinet. A public station also needs a suitable electrical installation, operating process, user access, payment or authorization flow where applicable, maintenance, and safety controls.
SPKLU, SPBKLU, and SPLU are different
The abbreviations sound similar, but they refer to different public services. Use the service designed for the vehicle and battery system.

Charging Technology
Slow, medium, fast, and ultrafast charging
Official categories describe charging technology, while the driver's actual speed also depends on the vehicle's voltage, battery temperature, state of charge, and maximum accepted power.

Check the connector before travelling
Public chargers may use Type 2 AC, CCS2, CHAdeMO, or GB/T, depending on the station and vehicle market. A connector that physically looks similar is not enough: voltage range, protocol, and the vehicle's charging capability must also be compatible.

Driver Workflow
How to use a public EV charging station

Find a suitable station
Check the location, operating information, charger power, connector, and access conditions in the operator app or public directory.

Park and inspect
Use the marked charging bay, secure the vehicle, and check that the connector, cable, and vehicle inlet are clean and undamaged.

Authorize the session
Follow the station instructions. Depending on the operator, access may use an app, QR code, RFID card, or another approved method.
- 04
Connect and start
Insert the compatible connector without forcing it, then confirm that the charger and vehicle show a normal charging session.

Monitor charging
Use the charger screen or app to monitor the session. Charging power may change as the battery fills or its temperature changes.

End and clear the bay
Stop the session through the approved flow, return the connector to its holder, and move the vehicle when charging is complete.
How SPKLU charging costs work
There is no single universal price for every SPKLU. The payable amount can combine electricity consumed with service charges permitted under current policy for certain fast or ultrafast services.
Always check the price and applicable terms shown by the operator before confirming a session. The final energy used also depends on the battery state, charging losses, and when the session is stopped.
A charger's maximum power is not a guarantee of the power a vehicle will always receive.
Vehicle limits, battery condition, power sharing, and site conditions affect actual performance.
